Next up is Christina Sweigert, Manager of Logistics Operations, here at Jarrett. Read her answers below to find out more about Christina and her experience at Jarrett throughout the years!
Describe your job in 20 words or less?
I am the Logistics Manager for CAT6, helping manage the supply chain for Jarrett clients.
Favorite memory at Jarrett so far?
My favorite memory is receiving my 5 Year Service Award personally from Mike Jarrett! I appreciate a culture where the President takes the time to personally recognize service and contributions by an employee.
What is your favorite quote?
“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.” – Brene Brown
What is your biggest goal right now?
Right now, I just want to survive sending my last child off to college! Empty Nest Syndrome is REAL!
Why did you decide to join and stay with Jarrett?
I came to Jarrett because I knew and respected Mike and Diane and their family, and I hoped that working for them would provide the culture and opportunity that I was looking for at the time. I stayed because the culture and opportunity have been ideal for my personal and professional goals.
Which employee perk does Jarrett offer that you enjoy the most? Why?
I most enjoy the Health & Wellness Program and its incentive to make healthy choices.
Who has been a mentor for you here at Jarrett? How have they helped you?
Jill Hochstetler has been vital in my career development at Jarrett, providing sound advice and direction to further my growth and learning opportunities. She’s an excellent example of bold leadership and has a great sense of humor!
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and experience surrounding you, don’t be overwhelmed by the information, and find your niche. Logistics is a big world, and there’s a fit for everyone!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your time at Jarrett?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it’s okay to fail or make mistakes because those experiences makes the best learning tool for growth and development, both personally and professionally.
How have you seen the organization and/or industry change over the course of time that you’ve been at Jarrett?
Technology has definitely driven a lot of our growth and change since I’ve been here. From communication tools to data availability, our processes continue to be streamlined, making our jobs so much easier.
How does your team provide value to Jarrett clients?
Our team strives to be a central point for all things logistics to our customers by being their go-to resource. We build strong relationships, and prove our value every day.
How does Jarrett and their employees serve the community?
Our Values Statement highlight Civic Responsibility, and we encourage participation by offering volunteer opportunities at various local charities, and by providing opportunities for employees to donate to causes in the form of food drives, jeans days, and participating in local fundraising events.
How would you define Jarrett’s success?
Success can be measured partly by name recognition. I believe that part of what defines Jarrett is name recognition, but it goes beyond the name to a unique work culture that Jarrett believes in and promotes.
How has the client experience changed?
Our client experience has evolved to being very relational-based, both with the customers and carriers—allowing us to be their best advocate.
What do you envision Jarrett looking like in the next 20 years?
In 20 years, I would envision Jarrett’s growth to mirror the last 20—both in terms of size and advancements in technology and industry standards.
What lessons have you learned in the past 20 years that will impact the next 20?
I think the one thing that will remain constant is change! If we can’t be adaptable, we will be left behind.
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
Dream big and don’t be afraid to set lofty goals, and don’t let your first 20 years define your future.
What was your favorite song when you were 20?
Anything by Bon Jovi, probably—I might have had a crush!
What job did you have when you were 20?
I was a customer service representative at Wooster Brush Company!
