Jarrett Gives Back: Annual Hearts for Heartland Benefit


$88,000 Raised!

In August of 2024, Jarrett hosted the second annual Supply Chain Summit for transportation industry leaders, followed by first annual Hearts for Heartland benefit focused on inspiration and giving for employees, community leaders and guests. Drawing on the perspective of U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist, Men's Speedskater Dan Jansen and Two-Time Heisman Trophy Winner Archie Griffin, Hearts for Heartland raised $88,000 for Heartland Education Community.

What is the culture like?
Jarrett is a close-knit, family-oriented culture. Our hiring strategy is intently focused on our core values, and we strive to hire through the lens of our culture. When you join Jarrett, you become part of the Jarrett family.
When does 401(k) start?

401(k) enrollment begins after a 30-day waiting period.

What types of insurance plans do you offer?
We offer three types of medical insurance plans: a traditional insurance plan, a lower deductible health savings account (HSA) plan, and a higher deductible HSA plan. We also offer dental, vision, and life insurance plans. We completely understand that insurance costs can play into the career decision-making process, so Jarrett is happy to pay a generous amount of the monthly premium. We can provide insurance rates and plan information once a candidate enters the offer stage.
Which holidays do you take off?
We observe New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a weekend, we are closed the business day before or after.
How does paid time off work?

Paid time off is available after 30 days of employment. Jarrett has two buckets of time: vacation and personal time. We encourage employees to take time off each year, and as a result, paid time off balances start over each year.

How much does a Zephyrs or CrossFit membership cost with the employee discount?

Zephyrs: An employee would pay $21.50 for a monthly membership, $57.50 for a quarterly membership, or $162.50 for an annual membership.

CrossFit Orrville: An employee would pay $60.00 for a monthly membership, $165.00 for a three-month membership, or $600 for an annual membership.

What insurance provider does Jarrett use?

Jarrett is partnered with Anthem for medical and dental insurance and Principal/VSP for vision insurance.

What is one of the company’s most unique benefits?
Employees love our wellness program. There are two components to this program: a 50 percent discount at Jarrett-owned Zephyrs Fitness and CrossFit Orrville, and a wellness program that allows employees to earn up to $930 per year toward fitness or mental wellness purchases.
How long do I have to wait for benefits?

New employees are eligible for benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k), and insurance after 30 days of employment.

Interns fulfill the daily responsibilities of our full-time staff, no matter what department they are in. Our large intern class arrives each summer, but there is no shortage of opportunities during the spring and fall semesters. At Jarrett, we offer internships in various departments including operations, logistics, marketing, sales, HR, IT, analysis, auditing, training, and more.

Internship FAQs

How are interns able to give back?

Each summer, we partner with the Orrville area Salvation Army and spend an afternoon volunteering with them. Each month, we also host a jeans day for charity, so interns can give money toward that month’s sponsored charity.

Is this a paid internship?

Yes! Our interns are paid for their work each summer. New interns joining the company are paid $12 per hour.

What can I do to stand out?

During the interview, come prepared with good questions. A good question that makes the recruiter think will be memorable. As an intern, a strong work ethic and desire to improve processes always stands out. Most of all, be yourself!

Will Jarrett come to my school?

How many hours per week would an intern work?

Our summer interns work 40 hours per week. Throughout the year, our semester interns work 15-40 hours per week, depending on their availability.

Do interns get the opportunity to see other departments?
Absolutely. Any employees and/or interns can job shadow in any department. All they need to do is fill out a job shadow application.
Do interns receive any benefits?
Interns receive discounts at Zephyrs Fitness and CrossFit Orrville.
Do you hire interns as employees once they graduate?

That’s our intention! Our retention rate for hiring interns as full-time employees is high and we do so whenever possible.

Do I have to have a certain major to be considered for an internship?

Nope! We consider students in any majors for our internships. Though our preference is to have interns with majors relevant to the work they’re doing, it is not a requirement. At the end of the day, we want to make sure our interns are getting experience that is relevant to their career goals.

What are the start and end dates of internships?

We consider each of the schools we have representation from and base our start and end dates around that. We typically begin our summer internship programs in mid-May and end them in mid-August.
