Summary:
A winter storm will emerge into the Plains Thursday, producing heavy snow, strong winds, and frigid temperatures from the Central Plains to the Great Lakes into Friday. A very cold airmass will move into the Rockies and Northwest. Temperatures are forecast to be 20 to more than 40 degrees below normal from the Northwest into the Plains by Friday. Flooding concerns continue for the Northeast. - Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
- Impacts: Unsecured outdoor items may be blown around in the wind. Driving on area roadways may become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 AM CST Friday morning
- West winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
- Impacts: Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Blowing dust may reduce visibility.

- Lake effect snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with the highest amounts in the Florence, Ava, and Boonville areas. There will be a sharp cutoff to an inch or so just to the south.

- Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches in the most persistent lake snows across the Tug Hill Plateau. Accumulations across surrounding lower elevations will be 2 to 4 inches.
