A Pacific system continues to spread heavy mountain snows across the Cascades and into the Northern/Central Rockies and freezing rain and significant ice accumulation in portions of the Cascades and Lower Columbia Basin resulting in dangerous travel. Heavy lake-effect snow will continue downwind of the Great Lakes. Another frigid Arctic airmass is expected late this week. Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon
- Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches. Winds gusting 45 to 60 mph.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon
- Snow. Additional snow accumulations of a coating to an inch. Winds gusting 35 to 50 mph.
- Impacts: Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning
- West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Areas of blowing and drifting snow.
- Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers. In addition, areas of blowing snow could lead to reduced visibility and slick roads.
Illinois
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM CST Friday afternoon
- Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated totals up to 4 inches possible.
- Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. While snow will taper off and end late tonight, areas of blowing snow and drifting snow late tonight and Friday morning will continue to result in hazardous conditions. Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility in open areas, and drifting snow will keep exposed roadways snow covered in open areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute, particularly in open and outlying areas.
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice
- Flooding caused by an ice jam continues.
- Impacts: Flooding of roads and streets will continue. Yards and other low-lying areas along the river will remain inundated by water and ice.
Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until further notice
- Flash flooding caused by the sudden shifting or break up of an ice jam is possible.
- Impacts: Dangerous ice flows or shifting of ice may damage structures along the shore. Additional roads and streets may be flooded.
New York
Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening
- Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations of 8 to 14 inches in the most persistent lake snows over the Buffalo Southtowns and northern Wyoming County.
- Impacts: Travel will be very difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commute today.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning
- Lake effect snow. Storm total accumulation of 2 to 6 inches, mainly for areas north of Route 28.
- Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.

- Visibility one quarter mile or less in patchy dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

- West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways including portions of I-25. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
