Arctic air will filter south and east through early this week. As this cold air moves across the South, a rare winter storm is forecast to develop from Texas, Gulf Coast States into the Southeast through early this week. Several new daily record low temperatures are expected, including new record-low maximum temperatures. For Southern California, fire weather concerns increase this week. Texas
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12:15 AM CST Wednesday morning
- Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Ice accumulations up to 0.02 inches possible south of the I-10 corridor to the coast. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
- Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

- Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 1 to 2 feet in the most persistent lake snows.
- Impacts: Travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM EST Wednesday morning
- Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 4 to 8 inches.
- Impacts: The combination of reduced visibilities and snow covered roads could result in difficult travel conditions.
California
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM PST this morning
- Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 PM PST Tuesday evening
- Northeast winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Isolated gusts in excess of 75 mph on the favored coastal slopes and canyons in the San Bernardino and Santa Ana Mountains.
- Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

- North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
- Impacts: Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds.
