U.S. Weather Update 1.23.25

Summary:
Dangerously cold temperatures will linger today across the Southeast U.S. followed by a slow return to near normal readings expected by Friday into the weekend. High winds and low humidity will maintain critical fire weather conditions in southern California into Friday morning. The high winds will also create difficult travel and a potential for power outages. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-5, I-10, I-40, I-15, I-96, I-94, I-75, I-86, I-81, I-95, I-85, I-77


Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM MST this evening

  • West winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph possible.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause isolated power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM MST Friday morning

  • Southwest winds gusting up to 65 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult for high profile vehicles on Interstate 90 near Livingston, and rural roads along the Beartooth foothills. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST Friday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
