Summary:
Two Arctic cold fronts will bring a threat of heavy snowfall and gusty winds for portions of the Great Lakes, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England through Wednesday. There is the potential for snow squalls that may produce dangerous travel. A slow moving storm is pushing east from Southern California into the Southwest bringing light, but continuous snow. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-94, I-29, I-43, I-41, I-55, I-294, I-77, I-81, I-64, I-79, I-68, I-80, I-99, I-76, I-90, I-86, I-88, I-95, I-89, I-93


New York

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST Wednesday evening

  • Snow expected. Total twenty four hour snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel may become difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon

  • Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

West Virginia
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 3 PM EST this afternoon

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 PM EST this afternoon

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Louisiana
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Some roads have two to three feet of water over the roads and are subject to being closed. Flooding of forested areas near the river will also occur.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in areas of dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Alabama
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility of one-quarter of a mile or less in dense freezing fog. The freezing fog may create a very thin glaze of ice on elevated and exposed surfaces.
  • Impacts: The combination of low visibility and the potential for a thin glaze of ice on bridges and overpasses will make driving conditions hazardous in locations where fog has developed.

Maine

Snow Squall Warnings remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to blowing snow and visibility rapidly falling to less than one-quarter mile. Wind gusts up to 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes.
