Summary:
A series of strong low pressure systems triggering blizzard conditions, high winds and accumulating snow across Alaska will continue through the weekend. Valley rain, mountain snow and high surf are expected for the west coast and Four Corners region through Thursday. By this weekend, winter weather impacts will be on tap for the Mid-Atlantic including snow, flooding and freezing rain. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-82, I-25, I-40, I-84, I-5, I-15, I-210, I-10, I-17, I-70, I-80, I-35, I-27, I-20, I-49, I-44, I-59, I-65
New Mexico
Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MST this morning
- Visibility one quarter mile or less in freezing fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Bridges, overpasses and other exposed surfaces may become slick with a light glaze of ice.
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MST Friday morning
- Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches except up 8 to 12 inches above 8000 feet.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. This includes along portions of I-25 from Raton toward Glorieta Pass, I-40 through Tijeras Canyon, and portions of U.S. Highways 56 and 64/87 across northeast New Mexico.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM MST Friday morning
- Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. This includes along portions of I-40 near Clines Corners and I-25 through Santa Fe. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MST this morning
- Visibility of one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
- Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening
- West winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
- Impacts: Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Nevada
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning
- Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and could damage structures susceptible to wind. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
