U.S. Weather Update 1.7.25

Summary:
Dangerous fire-weather conditions are expected across southern California Tuesday through Thursday. Strong winds will impact the Desert Southwest into the Sierra Nevada and southern California, which will increase the potential for downed trees, power outages, and difficult travel. Below normal temperatures are expected over much of the South and East through at least the rest of the week. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-82, I-5, I-80, I-15, I-40, I-10, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-94, I-77, I-81, I-88, I-87, I-89, I-91


Colorado
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST this evening

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM PST Wednesday evening

  • North winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected. Isolated gusts to 80 mph possible.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST Wednesday evening

  • North to northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Washington
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Fog in tandem with freezing conditions  could promote icy conditions on roadways, including black ice. This includes Interstate 90 and Interstate 82.
