U.S. Weather Update 10.2.23

Summary:
Strong to severe storms and heavy rainfall will be possible across the southern High Plains for a few days. Isolated severe storms will be possible farther north across the central/northern High Plains. Above-normal near-record to record-breaking temperatures will continue across portions of the central U.S. Impacted Lanes: I-70, I-80, I-84, I-15


Florida
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Moderate coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Coastal roads may be closed. Flooding of low- lying lots, parks, and roadways near the shoreline.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Utah
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Additional snow accumulations of up to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.

North Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Arizona
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MST this evening

  • South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. In addition, winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

New Mexico
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM MDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.
