U.S. Weather Update 10.21.24

Summary:
A few severe thunderstorms and localized heavy rainfall will affect portions of the Plains through Monday. Meanwhile, a strong Pacific system is expected to move ashore with strong winds and accumulating snow for the highest terrain. For Alaska, an early season winter storm to bring dangerous seas, strong winds and heavy snow through early this week. The United States east coast remains tranquil. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-70, I-27, I-84, I-95, I-75


New Mexico
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM MDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by recent heavy rain and snowmelt is occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roads, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings may be inundated with water and may not be passable.

Florida
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 6 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Moderate flooding expected.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Tuesday morning

  • Minor flooding expected. 
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts:  Major widespread and long duration flooding occurs near the rivers. Water is over roadways. 

Colorado
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches, with locally higher amounts. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

Oregon
Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM PDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water may be over roadways.
