U.S. Weather Update 10.22.24

Summary:
In Alaska, a large, strong fall storm will bring coastal flooding, strong winds and heavy snow to a large a portion of the northern and western coast and Interior of the state. Monsoonal moisture and a low pressure area (Invest 97W) will produce excessive rain that may lead to flash, urban, small stream, and river flooding across Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-80, I-25, I-95


Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 AM MDT this morning

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts around 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Florida
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Major widespread and long duration flooding occurs near the rivers. Water is over roadways.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 6 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Significant coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including  some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
