U.S. Weather Update 10.23.24

Summary:
Areas of low pressure and monsoonal moisture may produce heavy to excessive rainfall with the possibility of flooding in Guam and the Northern Marianas. Breezy and dry conditions may produce locally critical fire weather conditions in Connecticut. Above average temperatures will continue across the central and eastern U.S and some locations in the Southern Plains. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-40, I-26, I-95, I-295, I-293, I-93, I-89, I-10, I-45, I-69, I-75


Florida
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Major flooding occurs with water entering many structures on canals and along the river. Long duration flooding will occur, with levels taking weeks to months to return below flood stage. Water rescues will be necessary. Roads becomes inaccessible, with 1 to 2 feet water depth on numerous roads. 

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 4 AM EDT Thursday morning

  • Moderate coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM EDT Thursday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Louisiana
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Nevada
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, are expected.
  • Impacts:  Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
