U.S. Weather Update 10.27.23

Summary:
An early season winter storm will continue overnight in the northern Plains before tapering off Friday morning. The first significant Santa Ana wind event of the season will likely bring strong winds and very low humidities to wind prone areas of southwestern California late Saturday night into Monday evening. High Wind and Fire Weather Watches have been posted. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-5, I-80, I-76, I-70, I-25, I-29, I-55, I-59, I-40


Colorado
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12 PM MDT Sunday afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 23 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Wyoming
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM MDT Sunday afternoon

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult.

Florida
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT Saturday afternoon

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Mississippi
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM PDT Sunday afternoon

  • Northerly winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph over the Sacramento Valley and Foothills. East to northeast gusts up to 55 mph possible over the Sierra at higher elevations and through gaps and canyons.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

High Wind Watch remains in effect until 10 PM PDT Monday evening

  • Areas of northeast wind gusts 35 to 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Strong winds could damage trees and other objects. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
