A strong Pacific system will track across the Intermountain West early this week. Strong winds and higher elevation snow will affect the Western States. Further east, strong southerly winds will usher in record warmth for most of the central and eastern United States. The threat for rapid spread of wildfires today then increasing chance for severe thunderstorms for the center of the nation. Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 AM MDT Wednesday morning
- Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 10 and 15 inches.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult at times. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Impacts to South Pass expected, especially Tuesday afternoon when winds increase.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM MDT Wednesday morning
- Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 6 inches. Highest accumulations expected south of Cody, near Meeteetse, with totals up to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult, especially near Meeteetse. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7 PM MDT this evening
- Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
- Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.
Florida
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice
- Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
- Impacts: Major flooding occurs with water entering many structures on canals and along the river. Long duration flooding will occur, with levels taking weeks to months to return below flood stage. Roads becomes inaccessible, with 1 to 2 feet water depth on numerous roads.
Mississippi
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning
- Visibility of one quarter mile or less in areas of dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM PDT Tuesday morning
- Northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
- Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this evening
- Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
