Summary:
Santa Ana winds and very low humidity will result in Critical to Extremely Critical Fire Weather conditions through Wednesday across Southern California. Widespread heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast, leading to scattered flash flooding. In the interior Northeast, heavy rain combined with snowmelt could create rises on area streams and rivers. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-84, I-80, I-94, I-25, I-75, I-96, I-20, I-26, I-95, I-40, I-77, I-74, I-85, I-64, I-79, I-81, I-86, I-93, I-91, I-89


Michigan
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibility and road conditions may change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 to 7 inches.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.

New York
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM EST Friday morning

  • Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 4 to 7 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult with snow covered roads and reduced visibility. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the evening commute tonight and the Thursday morning commute.

Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Friday evening

  • Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 3 feet in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce considerable blowing and drifting snow.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult with deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility, with near whiteout conditions at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the evening commute tonight, the Thursday morning, and Thursday evening commutes.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM EST Thursday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is expected. 

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down numerous tree limbs, and scattered trees and power lines. Power outages are likely. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Scattered tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

North Carolina
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM EST this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Water is over roadways. 

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

WInd Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon

  • South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Oregon
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM PST Thursday morning

  • Southeast winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, especially along I-5

Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM PST this afternoon

  • Visibility one quarter to one half mile in freezing fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM PST Thursday afternoon

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Ice accumulations around a glaze to one tenth of an inch.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Even light ice can cause dangerous driving conditions due to slippery roads. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute.
