U.S. Weather Update 11.4.23

Summary:
Several additional storm systems will continue to bring periods of heavy rain, mountain snow, and high winds through this week across the Northwest U.S. into the central and northern Rockies. Considerable urban, small stream, and moderate to isolated major river flooding impacts are expected between Puget Sound and the Cascades through mid-week. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-84, I-680, I-90, I-94, I-80, I-25, I-10, I-65, I-75, I-16, I-85, I-87, I-93, I-89, I-91, I-95


Maine
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Snow. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.

Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • Heavy mountain snow and blowing snow possible. Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches expected through this afternoon. Total snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 feet, with a few isolated maximum amounts of 3 to 5 feet possible in the Sierra Madres. 
  • Impacts: Mountain travel could become extremely dangerous or impossible due to icy, snow packed roads and near zero visibilities in falling and blowing snow.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Alabama
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

North Dakota
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • Northwest winds to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Oregon
Flood Watch remains in effect until 2 PM PST Wednesdays afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
