Summary:
A winter storm will continue to bring areas of heavy snow and ice from the Great Lakes through New England today into tonight. Heavy to excessive rainfall will continue across much of coastal into central California today. Flash flooding and debris flows over recent wildfire burn scars are possible. Heavy snow will fall across the mountains of the Sierra into the Rockies into Saturday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-82, I-84, I-5, I-15, I-80, I-25, I-70, I-40, I-17, I-10, I-8, I-55, I-22, I-30, I-24, I-65, I-64, I-69, I-71, I-77, I-75, I-79, I-68, I-94, I-96, I-81, I-86, I-88, I-87, I-95, I-91, I-93, I-89


California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Friday morning

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Isolated gusts up to 80 mph possible in the higher elevations.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could down trees, snap power lines, and result in property damage. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be extremely difficult and hazardous, especially for high profile vehicles. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST Friday morning

  • Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph possible in the higher elevations.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST Friday evening

  • Heavy snow. Snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches except for 10 to 18 inches west of Highway 395. Locally higher amounts up to 2 feet on the highest peaks. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Wind prone areas may gust as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.

Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:15 AM PST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to continuous rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5:15 PM PST this evening

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas with water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 PM PST Friday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water over roadways continues to be possible. 

Oregon
Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 AM PST Friday morning

  • Significant icing. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations up to three tenths of an inch.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause power outages.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Friday morning

  • Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations between one tenth and two tenths of an inch possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause power outages.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PST Friday evening

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST this afternoon

  • East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • South winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

New York
Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 1 AM EST Saturday morning

  • Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 8 to 16 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the the commute this morning and the Friday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could down tree branches and cause isolated power outages.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Storm total snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes today.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST Friday afternoon

  • Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 4 to 9 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the commute this evening. Gusty winds will down tree branches and cause isolated power outages.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM EST Friday morning

  • West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EST this afternoon 

  • Up to near one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
  • Impacts: .Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties will experience minor flooding.
