An extended period of critical fire weather is forecast through Saturday from southern New Mexico into the southern Plains. A Pacific storm with atmospheric river will bring heavy mountain snow and strong winds to the Sierra Nevada and heavy rainfall over parts of coastal southern California midweek. California
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Wednesday evening
- Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches below 4000 ft, with 12 to 18 inches above 4000 ft. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Thursday morning
- Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 6 inches, with up to 10 inches above 5500 feet. Winds gusting up to 55 mph.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Blowing snow will result in lower visibility.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 PM PDT Friday evening
- Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
- Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM PDT Wednesday afternoon
- South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around or damage unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 PM PDT Thursday evening
- Flash flooding and debris flows caused by excessive rainfall are possible.
- Impacts: Potential for heavy rain may trigger hazardous and damaging flooding and debris flows. Flooding may also occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is expected.
Mississippi
Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Saturday afternoon
- Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
- Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to continuous rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM CDT Thursday morning
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Water over roadways.
North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this evening
- 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
- Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
