U.S. Weather Update 3.13.25

Summary:
A Pacific storm with atmospheric river will bring heavy mountain snow and strong winds to the Sierra Nevada and heavy rainfall over parts of coastal southern California through Thursday. An extended period of critical to extremely critical fire weather conditions will continue into the southern and central Plains through Saturday. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-82, I-84, I-15, I-80, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-40, I-10, I-8, I-17, I-27, I-20, I-35, I-37, I-69, I-55, I-44, I-49, I-57, I-64, I-72, I-74


Arkansas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Sunday evening

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to continuous rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

California
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 6 and 18 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. Dense blowing dust may also be possible.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 PM PDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Expect water over roadways. 

Texas 
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening

  • Visibility between one- quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

High  Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Friday afternoon

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
