U.S. Weather Update 3.26.25

Summary:
Thunderstorms may bring heavy to excessive rainfall and the potential for flooding over South Texas late Wednesday through Friday. A Moderate Risk (level 3 of 4) of excessive rainfall has been issued for portions of South Texas. A Pacific storm will begin to impact the Pacific Northwest Wednesday, bringing strong winds, heavy showers and the potential for severe thunderstorms. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-80, I-35, I-69, I-37, I-49, I-55, I-59, I-10, I-65, I-74, I-71, I-75, I-64


California
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PDT Friday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads will become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Thursday evening

  • South winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PDT Thursday evening

  • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Mississippi
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Tuesday evening 

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning 

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Texas
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM Friday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. Numerous flash floods likely. 
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
