U.S. Weather Update 3.27.25

Summary:
A Pacific storm will continue to bring low elevation rain and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest into Friday. Severe thunderstorms are possible over coastal areas of the Pacific Northwest through tonight. Thunderstorms will continue to bring heavy to excessive rainfall and the potential for flooding over South Texas through Friday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-5, I-80, I-82, I-84, I-15, I-10, I-40, I-29, I-35, I-37, I-69, I-45


California
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT Friday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 16 inches, except locally higher amounts up to 24 inches over higher peaks. Winds gusting to around 30 to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Friday morning

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph. Wind prone areas along Highway 395 and Sierra ridges could see gusts in excess of 65 mph. Wind prone areas along Highway 95 could see gusts in excess of 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Texas
Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 AM CDT Saturday morning

  • Moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:30 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Friday morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is possible and expected.
