U.S. Weather Update 3.3.25

Summary:
Strong winds and very dry conditions will promote critical to extremely critical fire weather conditions across portions of the Southern Plains, especially across eastern New Mexico and far western Texas. Heavy high elevation mountain snow will continue in the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin through Monday, with 1 to 2 feet of snow expected. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-5, I-15, I-10, I-40, I-70, I-94, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-35, I-30, I-20, I-49, I-55, I-12, I-59, I-22, I-65, I-85, I-24, I-90, I-81


Nebraska
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM CST Wednesday afternoon

  • Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday & Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Very strong winds could cause tree damage.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11:59 PM CST Tuesday evening

  • North winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Nevada
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches, with locally higher amounts of 10 to 15 inches over summits and passes.
  • Impacts: Travel will be extremely difficult to nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute. Interstate 80 will be snow covered.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM PST this evening

  • Sustained northwest winds 20 to 30 mph, with gusts near 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult, particularly for high profile vehicles. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.

Louisiana 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST Tuesday evening

  • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until March 12th

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST Tuesday evening

  • Minor coastal flooding up to 1 foot above normally dry ground expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to continuous rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

New York 
Flood Watch remains in effect until 1PM EST Thursday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by significant snowmelt and rainfall.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. The most prone areas for flooding will be where ice jams typically develop. Water may be over roadways. 

Texas 
Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM MST this evening

  • Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7 PM MST this evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM MST this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
