Summary:
Extremely critical and dangerous fire weather conditions will develop over south-central Texas, including the San Antonio and Austin metros, Tuesday with strong winds and very dry conditions. Heavy snow and strong winds will impact the central High Plains and upper Midwest through Wednesday, with periods of blizzard conditions likely. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-15, I-90, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-40, I-20, I-10, I-35, I-45, I-69, I-30, I-44, I-29, I-94, I-55, I-64, I-49, I-12, I-59, I-65, I-85, I-22, I-75, I-24, I-81


Nebraska
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM CST Wednesday afternoon

  • Blizzard conditions. Snow accumulations 2 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Very strong winds could cause tree damage and power outages.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 AM CST Wednesday morning

  • Snow and blowing snow with potential near-blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulation 1 inch or less most places, but possibly closer to 2 inches in limited spots. North-northwest winds gusting as high as 55 to 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening commute. Very strong winds could cause near-blizzard like conditions in any steadier snow bands.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM CST Wednesday afternoon

  • North-northwest winds sustained 35 to 45 mph, with gusts as high as 55 to 65 MPH.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles on west-east oriented roads.

South Dakota
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Sudden wind gusts can cause drivers to lose control, especially in lightweight or high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying debris. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • Significant coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • Expect southerly winds this morning near 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph ahead of an approaching cool front. Behind the front gusty conditions will remain, as winds will become southwesterly from 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: High profile vehicles could become unstable at times. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Isolated to scattered power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM CST Friday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways and ponding of water on roadways is occurring or is imminent.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to continuous rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

New York
Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM EST Thursday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by significant snowmelt and rainfall.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff from significant snowmelt and rain may result in flooding of rivers, smaller tributaries, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. The most prone areas for flooding will be where ice jams typically develop. The greatest risk for ice jam flooding will be later tonight through Wednesday with the risk for river based flooding coming mainly Wednesday night and Thursday. Water over roadways is possible.
