U.S. Weather Update 4.14.25

Summary:
A strengthening storm system over the Upper Great Lakes will bring moderate to heavy snow to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan through Tuesday morning. Ahead of this system, strong to severe storms may develop over the Ohio Valley, portions of the Appalachians, and the Mid Atlantic Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-94, I-29, I-90, I-64, I-81, I-66, I-68, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-75, I-71, I-65


Michigan
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT Tuesday morning

  • Heavy snow and areas of blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will create areas of blowing snow.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT Tuesday evening

  • Snow and areas of blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will create areas of blowing snow, particularly along and near the Lake Superior shoreline.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult to very difficult near the Lake Superior shoreline. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning and possibly even the evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening

  • West to northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT Wednesday evening

  • Elevated river levels and flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continue.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Numerous roads closed and impacted by flood water.

Kentucky
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by last week's excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

Tennessee
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Several structures are flooded and some sand bagging operations are continuing. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CDT Saturday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
