Summary:
A significant late-season winter storm will bring an expanding area of heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain to the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Further south, severe thunderstorms are expected from the southern Plains into the southern Great Lakes. A multi-day excessive rain and flooding event will impact the Ozarks into the Ohio Valley through Saturday. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-15, I-90, I-94, I-29, I-80, I-40, I-44, I-35, I-69, I-10, I-45, I-49, I-55, I-12, I-59, I-22, I-30, I-65, I-75, I-95, I-16, I-20, I-69, I-43, I-74, I-70, I-71, I-77, I-96, I-81, I-88, I-87, I-89, I-91, I-93


South Dakota
Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

  • Significant icing expected. Total snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening

  • Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations one to three inches and ice accumulations around a tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Texas
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 1 AM CDT Thursday morning

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Thursday evening

  • South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM CDT this evening

  • Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM CDT Thursday evening

  • Minor coastal flooding expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Sunday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Water over roadways is possible. 

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening

  • Moderate to significant coastal flooding possible.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Georgia
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10:30 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
