U.S. Weather Update 4.24.25

Summary:
Thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy to excessive rainfall over portions of the Central/Southern Plains, Mississippi Valley and Southeast. Dry and windy conditions will pose an elevated fire weather risk over parts of western Florida. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-94, I-80, I-25, I-11, I-40, I-20, I-35, I-44, I-10, I-12, I-55, I-49 


Louisiana
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:45 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water is over roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until further notice

  • Flooding is possible.
  • Impacts:  Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

Montana
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations 1 to 3 inches. Greatest accumulations will be over higher hills and passes.
  • Impacts: A period of wet snow, possibly intense at times, will reduce visibility to under 3 miles and cause slushy roadways.

Texas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:30 AM CDT Sunday morning

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water is over roadways. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:30 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water is over roadways. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until further notice

  • Flooding is possible.
  • Impacts:  Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

Wyoming
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Nevada
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PDT Friday evening

  • South to southwest winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Strong winds could generate localized areas of blowing dust which could lower visibility and create adverse travel conditions. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
