Summary:
A multi-day, potentially historic heavy rainfall event may produce catastrophic and life-threatening flooding through Saturday from the Ozarks into the Ohio River Valley. Several clusters of strong to severe storms are expected from the Southern Plains, Mid Mississippi Valley to the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys and the Mid Atlantic. Tennessee
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:45 AM CDT this morning
- Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
- Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice
- Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
- Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:45 AM CDT this morning
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Sunday morning
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning
- South winds 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph.
- Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Montana
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Friday morning
- Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Friday morning
- Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
- Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Blowing snow could reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM MDT this morning
- Visibility less than one half mile in areas of dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
Louisiana
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening
- Minor coastal flooding expected.
- Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening
- South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph expected.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
