U.S. Weather Update 4.7.25

Summary:
The storm system which brought excessive rainfall and lingering flooding over the mid-Mississippi River Valley this past weekend will progressively shift through the Southeast U.S. Monday. Scattered thunderstorms, some with heavy rainfall, severe winds, and perhaps a tornado are possible Monday afternoon across parts of northern Florida and the southern Atlantic Seaboard. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-10, I-49, I-55, I-59, I-22, I-65, I-85, I-20, I-16, I-75, I-69, I-24, I-74, I-70, I-71, I-77, I-90, I-81, I-95


Kentucky
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:30 AM this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

New York 
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EDT Tuesday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 4 to 9 inches. The higher snowfall amounts will be found across the Tug Hill plateau. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult...particularly across the higher terrain. The hazardous conditions may impact the commutes.

Indiana
Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Visibility of one half mile or less within dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:30 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Tuesday evening

  • West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Georgia
Flood Warning remains in effect until 7:30 AM EDT Tuesday morning

  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

 Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is possible. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening

  • Southwest winds increasing to around 25 mph with gusts up to 40 to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
