U.S. Weather Update 4.8.25

Summary:
From the Lower Mississippi into the Ohio Valley, widespread moderate to major river flooding will continue through midweek in response to last week’s extreme rainfall. Areas of standing inundation will be slow to recede. A fast-moving storm system crossing the Northeast U.S. through Tuesday will bring a few inches of snow and gusty winds making for hazardous travel conditions. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-15, I-57, I-55, I-24, I-69, I-64, I-65, I-71, I-77, I-81, I-87, I-88, I-86, I-91, I-93, I-95


Washington
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Winter Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 6 to 12 inches.
  • Impacts: Periods of heavy snow will produce limited visibilities and challenging travel conditions.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 AM PDT Wednesday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Montana
High WInd Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MDT this evening

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Kentucky
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

California 
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 AM PDT Wednesday morning

  • Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
