U.S. Weather Update 5.13.24

Summary:
A wave of low pressure coinciding with a frontal boundary will focus more rainfall across the Gulf Coast states. Rainfall could be excessive with flash flooding, especially for areas that received heavy rainfall the past couple of week. Severe thunderstorms will also be possible where large hail, damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes may occur. The Intermountain West, unsettled weather expected. Impacted Lanes: I-20, I-35, I-45, I-10, I-40, I-44, I-70, I-80, I-29, I-30, I-69, I-55, I-59, I-65, I-85, I-575, I-285, I-985, I-75


Texas
Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Tuesday afternoon

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Tuesday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water over roadways. 

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Oklahoma
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Maryland
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
  • Impacts: Water may beginning pooling on parking lots and tidal roadways. 

Washington
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
