Summary:
Periods of heavy rainfall are expected across the Lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf Coast Friday. A Slight Risk (level 2 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall has been issued for portions of the Texas and Louisiana coast. A strong Pacific storm will impact the Pacific Northwest and Great Basin Friday through the weekend, bringing high elevation snow, lower elevation rain, and strong winds. Texas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 AM CDT this morning
- Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
- Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM CDT this afternoon
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
- Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways.
Nevada
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PDT Sunday morning
- Snow Above 5000 feet. Snow accumulations up to 3 to 6 inches around the Lake Tahoe Basin, 6 to 12 inches over higher Sierra passes, and up to 10 to 14 inches of snow across the Sierra Crest above 7000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
- Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Saturday evening
- South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
- Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult especially for high profile vehicles particularly along east-west routes. Blowing dust will reduce visibility.
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM PDT Sunday morning
- South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
- Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. A few power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning
- Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
