U.S. Weather Update 6.6.24

Summary:
Areas of heavy rain and strong winds are ongoing in the Northwest. Showers and severe thunderstorms over parts of the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley and Central Plains may produce damaging gusts, large hail, and localized areas of flash flooding. A heat wave will impact the southwest U.S. and California Central Valley. Impacted Lanes: I-94, I-29, I-165, I-69, I-40, I-75, I-59


Mississippi
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 AM CDT Wednesday morning

  • Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Kentucky
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one quarter mile at times.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Texas
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. 
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM CDT this afternoon

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

North Dakota
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening

  • Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Additional Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: Wyoming, Nevada, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado

Additional Coastal Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: Maryland, Virginia, and New York

Additional Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: Illinois

Additional Wind Advisories include but are not limited to: Minnesota, and South Dakota
