U.S. Weather Update 7.15.24

Summary:
Excessive heat will affect the center and eastern portions of our country today with numerous record highs are expected. The combination of heat and humidity, along and ahead of cold front, will focus showers and thunderstorms. Storms could be severe from the western High Plains, Midwest into the Great Lakes region; Locally heavy rainfall may result in isolated instances of flash flooding. Impacted Lanes: I-94, I-70, I-69, I-74, I-65, I-75, I-96


Indiana
Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 AM EDT Friday morning

  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Recent rainfall over the past few days following heavy rain last week will lead to renewed minor flooding early this week. Expect flooding to then last through late this week due to the potential for additional rainfall. Water over roadways is expected.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

California
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Additional Flood Warnings include but are not limited to: Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Texas

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: Michigan, and Wisconsin
