U.S. Weather Update 7.17.23

Summary:
The relentless heat impacts continue across the Southern States with more records set to be broken through Tuesday. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast will move off the coastline provide a well needed break to start the week. Upstream wildfires continue and bring poor air quality conditions from the Plains, Ohio Valley and reaching the Eastern Seaboard on Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-35, I-55, I-57, I-69, I-165, I-65, I-64


Missouri
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Virginia 
Flood Warning remains in effect until 12 PM EDT this morning

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Kentucky 
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:45 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

New Jersey
Flood Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Arizona 
Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM MST this evening

  • Visibility between one quarter mile and one mile in blowing dust expected.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

Idaho
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Unsecured objects may be blown around.
