U.S. Weather Update 7.22.24

Summary:
High temperatures in the 90s to 100s and warm overnight temperatures will continue across parts of the Interior Northwest, central California, and the Great Basin. Thunderstorms and heavy rain may produce scattered flash flooding across much of the Southern Rockies into the Southwest, particularly over sensitive burn scars in New Mexico, and across the Southeast into the Carolinas. Impacted Lanes: I-10, I-20, I-64, I-77, I-71, I-70, I-81, I-95, I-40


Virginia
Flood Warning remains in effect until 1:30 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11:59 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is expected. 

Texas
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:45 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

California 
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM PDT Tuesday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Wisconsin
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: North Carolina, and New Mexico
