U.S. Weather Update 8.2.24

Summary:
Scattered strong to occasionally severe storms will bring the risk of gusty winds and flash flooding from the Ohio/Tennessee Valley into the Mid-Atlantic. Dangerous heat will spread across the Lower Mississippi Valley, Gulf Coast, and Mid-Atlantic. Another heatwave is building across the Northwest and Northern High Plains through Saturday where several daily record high temperatures are forecast. Impacted Lanes: I-64, I-75, I-71, I-76, I-80, I-79


Indiana
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Pennsylvania
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9:45 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Tennessee
Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Additional Flood Advisories include but are not limited to: Michigan

Additional Flood Watches include but are not limited to: New Mexico, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Virginia
