Debby will slowly track across the Southeast the next several days. Tornadoes, catastrophic flash and urban flooding, coastal flooding, rip currents, strong gusty winds are all expected. Meanwhile, a frontal zone across the Plains, Great Lakes into the Northeast will focus strong to severe thunderstorms and with the potential of excessive rainfall leading to flooding. Florida
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:45 PM EDT this afternoon
- Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
- Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Flood Warning remains in effect until 1:15 PM EDT this afternoon
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
- Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
Hurricane Warning remains in effect until further notice
- Wind: 50-65 mph with gusts to 85 mph
- Impacts: Life-threatening wind of equivalent CAT 1 or 2 hurricane force. Travel is not recommended and dangerous.
- Flooding Rain: 4-8 inches, with locally higher amounts
- Impacts: Extreme rainfall flooding may prompt numerous evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overwhelmingly overflow their banks in many places with deep moving water. Small streams, creeks, and ditches may become raging rivers. Flood control systems and barriers may become stressed. Flood waters can enter numerous structures within multiple communities, some structures becoming uninhabitable or washed away. Numerous places where flood waters may cover escape routes. Streets and parking lots become rivers of raging water with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become very dangerous. Numerous road and bridge closures with some weakened or washed out.
- Tornado: Strong tornados may emerge from the weather situation.
- Impacts: Several places may experience tornado damage with a few spots of considerable damage, power loss, and communications failures. Travel is not recommended and dangerous.
- Storm Surge: Life-threatening storm surge possible.
- Impacts: Peak Storm Surge Inundation: The potential for 7-10 feet above ground somewhere within surge prone areas. Flooding is expected in storm surge areas and travel is not recommended and dangerous.
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening
- South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts near 40 mph expected.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM EDT Tuesday evening
- Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this evening
- Minor coastal flooding.
- Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
