Summary:
Tropical Storm Debby will continue to unleash excessive rainfall, dangerous rip currents, storm surge and a few tornadoes across portions of the Southeast the next several days. Complex of thunderstorms, some severe with excessive rainfall will track across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley into portions of the Mid-Atlantic today. Meanwhile, dangerous heat and wildfire concerns continue for the West. Impacted Lanes: I-75, I-95, I-10, I-16, I-520, I-20, I-26, I-77, I-40, I-94, I-96, I-84
South Carolina
Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect until further notice
- Wind: 20-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph with potential for wind gusts 58 to 73 mph
- Impacts: Several large trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Some roads impassable from large debris, and more within urban or heavily wooded places. A few bridges and access routes impassable. Travel by vehicle or on foot increasingly difficult. Danger of death or injury from falling objects such as trees or electric wires outside. Scattered power and communications outages, but more prevalent in areas with above ground lines, which could persist for hours or days.
- Storm Surge: Life-threatening storm surge possible. The potential for 2-4 feet above ground somewhere within surge prone areas.
- Impacts: Areas of inundation of saltwater along immediate shorelines and in low-lying spots farther inland near rivers and creeks, with storm surge flooding accentuated by waves. Damage to several buildings, mainly near the coast. Sections of near-shore escape routes and roads become weakened or washed out, especially in normally vulnerable low spots.
- Flooding Rain: 6-10 inches, with locally higher amounts
- Impacts: Extreme rainfall flooding could prompt widespread rescues. As event unfolds, rescues could become impossible. Rivers and tributaries could overwhelmingly overflow their banks in many places with deep moving water. Small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may become raging rivers with strong currents. Flood control systems and barriers could become stressed or overwhelmed. Flood waters will enter many structures within multiple communities, some structures becoming uninhabitable or washed away. Flood waters could render escape routes impassable. Streets and parking lots become rivers of raging water with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become impossible and life threatening. Widespread road and bridge closures with most weakened or washed out.

- Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
- Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 AM EDT Friday morning
- Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

- Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.
