Excessive heat returns for portions of the Plains today where heat indices will likely climb above the century mark. Furthermore, warm temperatures, strong winds and dry fuels may result in rapid spread of wild fires across the western High Plains today. For the east coast, lingering storm with onshore flow will bring high surf, dangerous rip currents and coastal flooding, especially at high tide. Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this afternoon
- One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
- Impacts: Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads. Numerous road closures are likely. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 3 PM EDT this afternoon
- Up to around one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties near the waterfront will experience minor flooding.
Colorado
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT Sunday afternoon
- Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
- Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.
Virginia
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning
- Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EDT Saturday evening
- Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
- Impacts: Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property will experience shallow flooding.
