Rain will gradually diminish across the Mid-Atlantic and New England as Ophelia remnants slowly move offshore. A powerful system is bringing heavy rain, a wintry mix at higher elevations, and gusty winds to the Northwest. A lingering front in the South and an upper level system in the Upper Midwest may produce strong thunderstorms with locally heavy rain. Impacted Lanes: I-59, I-20, I-55, I-90, I-35, I-29
Virginia
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening
- Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
- Impacts: Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening
- Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
- Impacts: Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas will result in an elevated threat of property damage to homes and businesses near the waterfront and shoreline. Water will be 1 to 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads and threaten homes and businesses. Flooding will extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road closures and flooding of vehicles.
Florida
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
South Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning
- Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
- Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Thursday morning
- Northwest to north winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph expected. Isolated gusts of 55 to 60 mph possible in wind-prone areas during the evening and overnight hours tonight and Wednesday.
- Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
