A weather system will slowly move through the Northeast on Friday to produce widespread heavy to excessive rainfall across parts of the region. The excessive rainfall threat may result in flash, urban and small stream flooding, especially for the entire New York City metro area into parts of Connecticut. Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM EDT this morning
- Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
- Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning
- Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM EDT Saturday
- Up to 1 1/2 ft. of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline around the times of high tide.
- Impacts: Widespread minor to locally moderate coastal flooding around the times of high tide through Saturday morning, especially with the morning high tide cycles. Heavy rain will likely exacerbate the tidal flood threat Friday morning. This will result in several road closures and cause widespread flooding of low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront may become flooded.

- Impacts: Excessive runoff will likely result in scattered to numerous instances of flash flooding in urban and poor drainage areas. Locally considerable flash flooding is possible where axis of heaviest rain develops and sits for several hours.

- Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

- Minor coastal flooding expected around times of high tide.
- Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.
