Potential Tropical Cyclone One will likely bring very heavy rainfall to coastal Texas today and eventually the Rio Grande Valley early Thursday morning. Coastal flooding and tropical-storm-force winds are also possible along the Texas Coast. Excessive heat will continue to persist from the Midwest to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic this week. Texas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Thursday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings and roads may be flooded.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM CDT Thursday morning

  • East to southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Thursday morning

  • Significant coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Thursday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Wind: 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph
  • Impacts: A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways. Scattered power and communications outages.
  • Storm Surge: The potential for 1-3 feet above ground somewhere within surge prone areas.
  • Impacts: Expect flooding of low-lying roads and property.
  • Flooding Rain: Additional 3-6 inches, with locally higher amounts.
  • Impacts: Major rainfall flooding may prompt many evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may rapidly overflow their banks in multiple places. Small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may become dangerous rivers. Flood control systems and barriers may become stressed. Flood waters can enter many structures within multiple communities, some structures becoming uninhabitable or washed away. Many places where flood waters may cover escape routes. Streets and parking lots become rivers of moving water with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become dangerous. Many road and bridge closures with some weakened or washed out.

New Mexico
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Thursday morning

  • Southeast and east winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Thursday morning

  • Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Summary:
Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall will be possible this afternoon over the Upper Mississippi Valley and Central Plains. A low pressure system in the Western Gulf of Mexico will bring heavy to excessive rainfall for much of South Texas. A dangerous heat wave will impact much of the Midwest to the Northeast through this week. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-5, I-90, I-10, I-35


New York
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:45 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 AM MDT this morning

  • West winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Thursday morning

  • Significant coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

  • Minor coastal flooding.

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.

Summary:
Diverse pattern across the country with accumulating heavy wet snow across the northern Rockies into the new week. Meanwhile, deep tropical moisture is expected to move ashore across the Gulf Coast States with the threat of heavy rainfall. This threat extends into the upper Midwest where flash flooding and a few severe storms. In addition, a heat wave is building from the Plains into Northeast. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-15, I-94, I-84, I-29, I-80, I-35 


South Dakota
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Montana
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Tuesday morning

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 1 to 4 inches Butte to Anaconda, 2 to 5 inches at Ovando, Georgetown Lake, Macdonald Pass, and Homestake Pass. 5 to 14 inches in the higher terrain.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. Snow on trees could cause breaking branches and power outages. There will be two periods of snow in the valleys, one Monday morning and the other Monday night.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM MDT Tuesday evening

  • Heavy, wet snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 8 inches between 6000 and 8000 feet, with higher amounts possible over the highest terrain.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult. The heavy, wet nature of snow can bring down tree limbs and power lines.

California 
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Tuesday morning

  • Northwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 AM PDT Tuesday morning

  • Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected. There will somewhat of a lull in the winds late tonight and Monday morning.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CDT Wednesday afternoon

  • Minor coastal flooding expected.

Minnesota

Summary:
Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from much of the Mississippi Valley into the Ozark Plateau and southern Plains Monday while heavy to excessive rainfall may bring flooding to parts of the southern Plains and Ozarks. Areas of heavy rain and strong winds are ongoing in the Pacific Northwest. Later this week, a heat wave will impact the southwest U.S. and California Central Valley. Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT Wednesday afternoon

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • .West winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Wind gusts greater than 45 mph are expected in the higher terrain and along the Divide.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Minnesota 
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1:30 PM CDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. River or stream flows are elevated. Water may be over some roadways. 

North Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Washington
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 AM PDT Wednesday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is possible.

Summary:
Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across parts of the Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf Coast Friday afternoon and evening. Large hail and severe wind gusts are the primary threats. Additional storms are expected in the Central High Plains and the Mid-Mississippi Valley Friday. An approaching system on Sunday for Pacific Northwest may bring heavy rain and winds. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-80, I-76, I-35, I-29, I-70, I-10, I-45, I-20, I-30, I-40, I-55


Kansas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM CDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways is expected or occurring. 

Louisiana 
Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 AM CDT Saturday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water is expected over roadways.
