Summary:
Showers and thunderstorms over the Northern Plains, Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley, and Ohio Valley will produce heavy rain and localized areas of flash flooding. There is a risk of severe thunderstorms over the Middle Mississippi Valley. Heavy rain is also expected in northern New England and southern Arizona. Iowa
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:45 AM CDT this morning
- Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
- Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning
- Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Water over roadways is possible.
North Carolina
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
- Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening
- Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
- Impacts: The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington.
Flood Watch remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Thursday morning
- Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
South Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning
- Visibility less than one half mile in dense fog.
- Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
Arizona
Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MST this evening
- Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected, with wind gusts in excess of 40 mph.
- Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.
