Summary:
Severe thunderstorms will be possible Monday across the northern and central Plains centered over Nebraska and South Dakota. Areas of damaging winds and sporadic hail will be possible. Another round of hot temperatures arrives Monday over the central and southern U.S. spreading into the Eastern U.S. by Independence Day. Excessive heat will begin to impact portions of California Tuesday. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-95, I-80, I-29, I-70, I-35


North Carolina
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
  • Impacts: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Nebraska
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility less than 1/4 mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

South Carolina
Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Water may be over roadways.

Summary:
Severe thunderstorms may develop from parts of the central Plains into parts of the Middle and Upper Mississippi Valley Friday. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats, as well as a couple tornadoes possible. Heat will continue across the southern Plains for the remainder of the week, with several record tying/breaking highs possible. Impacted Lanes: I-35, I-90, I-94, I-39, I-80,  I-88, I-57, I-29, I-49

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

South Dakota
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Sudden wind gusts can cause drivers to lose control, especially in lightweight or high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying debris.

Severe thunderstorms capable of very large hail and damaging wind gusts around 80 mph are forecast across portions of the central and northern Plains today into the nighttime hours; Furthermore, locally heavy rainfall may result in isolated instances of flash flooding. Monsoon-like conditions persist for the Four Corners Region where additional flooding is possible through tonight. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-29, I-94, I-70, I-25, I-40, I-86, I-84, I-15, I-10, I-65

Nebraska
Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Tuesday evening

  • Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: At 33.0 feet, Portions of Highway 34 and Interstate 29 will be closed due to flooding.

Idaho
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Unsecured objects may be blown around. Blowing dust is likely, especially near plowed fields. Blowing dust could cause reduced visibilities.

Colorado
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11:59 PM MDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

Summary:
Severe thunderstorms are possible across the Central Plains into the central Great Lakes Tuesday afternoon and evening. Damaging winds, large hail, and a tornado or two may occur. A Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) of severe thunderstorms is in effect. A heat wave will continue into Tuesday from the Great Plains into the lower Mississippi River Valley and in northern Florida. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-29, I-35, I-80, I-74, I-88, I-39, I-43, I-94, I-75, I-96, I-69


Minnesota 
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

Wisconsin

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

An ongoing heat wave will continue today and Tuesday from much of the Great Plains to the lower Mississippi River Valley and into northern Florida. Dangerous heat is also expected in southern California and Puerto Rico. Scattered severe thunderstorms will be possible over parts of the Upper Midwest today with destructive wind gusts possible for parts of Minnesota into Wisconsin.   • Storm Surge: The potential for 1-3 feet above ground somewhere within surge prone areas.

A low pressure system in the Western Gulf of Mexico will bring heavy to excessive rainfall for much of South Texas.   • West winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible.

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Thursday morning

  • Significant coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Summary:
Diverse pattern across the country with accumulating heavy wet snow across the northern Rockies into the new week. Meanwhile, deep tropical moisture is expected to move ashore across the Gulf Coast States with the threat of heavy rainfall. This threat extends into the upper Midwest where flash flooding and a few severe storms. In addition, a heat wave is building from the Plains into Northeast. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-15, I-94, I-84, I-29, I-80, I-35 


South Dakota
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:15 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Montana
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM MDT Tuesday morning

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 1 to 4 inches Butte to Anaconda, 2 to 5 inches at Ovando, Georgetown Lake, Macdonald Pass, and Homestake Pass. 5 to 14 inches in the higher terrain.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. Snow on trees could cause breaking branches and power outages. There will be two periods of snow in the valleys, one Monday morning and the other Monday night.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM MDT Tuesday evening

  • Heavy, wet snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 8 inches between 6000 and 8000 feet, with higher amounts possible over the highest terrain.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult. The heavy, wet nature of snow can bring down tree limbs and power lines.

California 
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Tuesday morning

  • Northwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 AM PDT Tuesday morning

  • Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected. There will somewhat of a lull in the winds late tonight and Monday morning.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CDT Wednesday afternoon

  • Minor coastal flooding expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Minnesota
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 AM CDT Wednesday morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways is possible.
