Summary:
Severe thunderstorms are expected across the Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley through Tuesday. The main threats are damaging winds and large hail as well as a few tornadoes. Heavy to excessive rainfall may lead to flash, urban, small stream and minor to moderate river flooding. Critical fire weather conditions will persist over the Southern Plains on Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-94, I-25, I-55, I-57, I-24


Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Wet snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches over the highest hills. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Lower elevations, including most populated locations, will see little if any snow accumulation and minimal travel difficulties with roads remaining wet or slushy. The impactful snow accumulations will be confined to the highest hilltops across the advisory area, including elevated portions of I-90 and US-212.

Ohio 
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Lowland flooding near the river increases, as well as backwater flooding in southern Clermont and Brown Counties in Ohio and Bracken County in Kentucky.

North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Up to 1 foot of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

Arkansas
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM CDT Wednesday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water over roadways. 

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this afternoon

  • North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Low pressure meandering through the Gulf of Maine will continue snow showers over northern New York, New England, and the spine of the Appalachians in West Virginia Friday into Saturday. A Pacific storm crossing the western U.S. will continue to bring gusty to high winds, low elevation rain, and high elevation snow to the region through Friday before moving to the central U.S. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-84, I-80, I-15, I-11, I-40, I-17, I-10, I-8, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-99, I-86, I-81, I-695


California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. Minor tree damage possible.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 10 inches above 6000 feet, 3 to 6 inches from 5000 to 6000 feet, and up to 3 inches above 3000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Delays or temporary closures are possible over many mountain roads, including Interstate 5 over the Grapevine.

Arizona
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts 55 to 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. A few power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust will lead to reduced visibility, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM MST this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 55 mph in the Sky Islands and White Mountains.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

New Jersey
Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Water over roadways.

Heavy, wet snow with some significant sleet will continue over north-central New England and northeast New York and then spread north through Maine into Friday. Moderate impacts to travel and power outages are expected. A Pacific system coming onshore Thursday will bring low elevation rain to California and high elevation snow to the Sierras and the Rockies. Maine
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Heavy snow and sleet. Additional snow accumulations between 5 and 11 inches for a storm total of 6 to 17 inches and sleet accumulations around one third of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Moderate snow with periods of heavy snow with potential for a foot plus of accumulation will create hazardous travel conditions across the region. Strong, gusty winds are also expected with the snowstorm, which could cause damage to trees and power lines. Travel is not recommended as heavy snowfall and very low visibility will create extremely dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute, with impacts potentially lingering into the evening commute.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Minor to moderate flooding is expected with this morning high tide due to storm surge and large battering waves.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure may be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Pockets of minor flooding and splash over is likely during this morning high tide due to storm surge and large battering waves.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT Friday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 11 inches, with the lowest amounts in far Northeast Aroostook from Presque Isle north toward Madawaska. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds and increasingly wet snowfall could bring down tree branches.

Nevada
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Friday morning

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected in the valleys and gusts to 65 mph in the mountains.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Friday morning

  • South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.

  • Blizzard conditions expected. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 24 inches, greatest over the higher terrain from the Huron Mountains to Negaunee with the least amounts near the Lake Superior shore. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph, strongest winds expected on Wednesday, especially near Lake Superior.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes. The combination of wet snow and gusty winds will bring down tree branches and cause power outages. Tree damage and power outages could become widespread.

  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM EDT Friday morning

  • Heavy snow and sleet expected for elevations above 1000 feet. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 5 to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Strong winds and heavy wet snow could down some tree limbs causing some power outages.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM EDT Friday morning

  • Snow and mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 2 to 8 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11:30 AM EDT Thursday morning

  • Flooding along the Hudson River caused by storm surge and rainfall during times of high tide Wednesday afternoon and particularly early Thursday morning.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in vulnerable riverfront communities. Expect around 1 to 2 ft. of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. This will result in scattered road closures and cause widespread flooding of low lying property.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening

  • Around 1 ft. of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
  • Impacts: Widespread minor to moderate flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline Wed night. Expect around 2 ft. of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. This will result in numerous road closures and cause widespread flooding of low lying property.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EDT Thursday morning

  • 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft. of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline with the Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning high tides.
  • Impacts: Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront. Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.

Summary:
A substantial severe weather risk will exist Tuesday afternoon and evening across portions of the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and into the Mid-Atlantic states. Tornadoes, very large hail and damaging winds will be possible.   • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 12 inches, with higher amounts to 14 inches possible in far northeast Wisconsin. Lesser accumulations possible near the lakeshore in Kewaunee and Manitowoc counties. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph, causing areas of blowing and drifting snow tonight into Wednesday.
  • Impacts: The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water over roadways. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Ohio
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult from delays, snow- covered roads, and chain controls. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
