Summary:
Widespread snow, with periods of heavy snowfall, and gusty winds will create difficult to impossible travel across New Mexico and eastern Colorado through overnight Friday. The same system will bring heavy rain, severe weather, and windy conditions across the Southern Plains. Locally critical wildfire conditions exist across southern California and the Mid-Atlantic into New England. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-5, I-80, I-70, I-76, I-25, I-20, I-27, I-44, I-35, I-69, I-45, I-10, I-16, I-95, I-77, I-85


Oklahoma
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 AM CST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 8 AM CST Saturday morning

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:45 AM CST this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water over roadways.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Heavy wet snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Final snowfall totals by Friday night may exceed two feet of snow in some locations.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

New Mexico
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between 1 and 2 feet for the Johnson and Barlett Mesas, between 6 and 12 inches for northern Union County, and between 2 and 6 inches for southern Union County. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Some roads may be closed. Major travel delays are possible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • Moderate to heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches, except up to four inches over the Sandia and Manzano Mountains.
  • Impacts: Plan on snow packed or icy road conditions. This includes portions of Interstate 40. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday morning commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches, mainly over the higher elevations.
  • Impacts: Plan on snow packed or icy road conditions. This includes portions of Interstate 40. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MST this morning

  • Visibility between one-quarter and one-half mile in freezing fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Roads may be slick due to a thin layer of ice from the freezing fog.

Louisiana
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST Sunday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding up to 1 foot above normally dry ground.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

North Carolina
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Maine
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST Saturday morning

A strong Santa Ana wind event will bring widespread Extremely Critical fire weather conditions to many areas of Los Angeles and Ventura counties into Thursday. Heavy snow is impacting the central to southern Rockies and nearby High Plains. Hurricane Rafael continues to bring tropical storm conditions to the Florida Keys. Impacted Lanes: I-75, I-40, I-26, I-5, I-15, I-10, I-25, I-70, I-20, I-35, I-74, I-80, I-16, I-95


Georgia
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM EST this morning

  • Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding.
  • Impacts: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EST this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. Water over roadways.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

New Mexico
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 4 inches, except 4 to 8 inches in the Chuska Mountains. Areas of dense freezing fog could develop overnight.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. Extend the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. This includes along portions of Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 550. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning commute. Isolated power outages can be expected.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST Friday evening

  • Wet snow. Freezing rain will mix with the snow during the morning hours. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches, particularly in the western and northern portions of Quay County. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on snow packed or icy road conditions. This includes portions of Interstate 40.

Summary:
Strong Santa Ana winds will bring critical to extremely critical fire weather conditions to portions of California today into Friday. Rafael has strengthened into a hurricane and is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico by Thursday. Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for parts of the Florida Keys. It is too soon to determine any northern Gulf Coast impacts. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-90, I-5, I-15, I-10, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-29, I-35, I-49, I-44, I-85, I-75, I-95


Colorado 
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The heaviest snow accumulations are likely to be south of I-76, but blowing and drifting snow will be a concern along the travel corridor.

California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Thursday afternoon

  • Northeast winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 75 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

 Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST this evening

  • North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Florida
Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Wind: Below tropical storm force wind; Peak Wind Forecast: 20-30 mph with gusts to 35 mph
  • Impacts: Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over. A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways. Scattered power and communications outages.
  • Storm Surge: Localized storm surge possible; The potential for up to 2 feet above ground somewhere within surge prone areas.
  • Impacts: Localized inundation with storm surge flooding mainly along immediate shorelines and in low-lying spots, or in areas farther inland near where higher surge waters move ashore. Sections of roads and parking lots inundated by surge water. Driving conditions dangerous in places where surge water covers the road.
  • Flooding Rain: Peak Rainfall Amounts: Additional around 1 inch
  • Impacts: Localized rainfall flooding may prompt a few evacuations. Flood waters can enter a few structures, especially in usually vulnerable spots. A few places where rapid ponding of water occurs at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage areas. Several storm drains and retention ponds become near-full and begin to overflow. Some brief road and bridge closures.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Moderate flooding occurs with water entering many structures on canals and along the river. Roads becomes inaccessible, up to 1 feet water depth on numerous roads.

Montana
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 8 AM MST Tuesday morning

  • Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches below 5000 feet, with 5 to 14 inches possible above 5000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 80 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Tuesday evening

  • Heavy snow expected above 4000 feet. Likelihood of major impacts from 6 to 10 inches or more of snow is 100 percent, and 10 to 18 inches of snow is 40 percent. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: For MAJOR impacts from snow, expect considerable disruptions to normal activities. Dangerous or impossible traveling conditions. Avoid travel in the impacted areas if possible. Summary:
Warm temperatures will continue across the Eastern Seaboard Friday, where record daily high temperatures may be broken. Temperatures are expected to decrease over the weekend. A storm system is expected to bring heavy rain and high elevation snow across the Pacific Northwest and into far northern California through Friday night. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-90, I-5, I-84, I-80, I-15, I-10, I-40, I-27, I-87


Washington
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 AM PDT Saturday morning

  • Snow above 3500 feet. Snow accumulations 7 to 15 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Expect winter driving conditions on roadways. 

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this evening

  • Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 3 inches.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

Florida

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Moderate flooding occurs with water entering many structures on canals and along the river. Roads becomes inaccessible, up to 1 feet water depth on numerous roads. 

Texas
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM CDT Saturday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 12:15 PM CDT Saturday afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of roadways, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

New York 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Summary:
Halloween will be reminiscent of summer in the East, with temperatures 20-30 degrees above normal. A cold front sweeping through the central U.S. will usher in more seasonable temperatures along with isolated severe thunderstorms in parts of the Midwest and Mississippi River Valley. The Northwest U.S. will remain unsettled with rain and heavy mountain snow. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-41, I-43, I-82, I-5, I-90, I-84, I-86, I-15, I-80, I-94, I-29, I-35, I-75, I-70, I-71, I-87


Oregon
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM PDT Friday evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches above 4000 feet and 12 to 24 inches above 5000 feet.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT Friday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches above 4000 feet and 10 to 17 inches above 5000 feet.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.

Strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, a few tornadoes and damaging winds are forecast to develop by mid-morning Wednesday and continue into the night from the middle Missouri Valley area southward to North Texas. An Enhanced Risk of severe thunderstorms (level 3 of 5) is in effect from southeast Nebraska to parts of northeast Oklahoma. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-90, I-5, I-84, I-80, I-25, I-70, I-95, I-20, I-77, I-85, I-96


Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 3 inches.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM MDT this afternoon

Elevated to critical fire-weather conditions are possible across parts of the central High Plains Tuesday. Elevated conditions are also possible in parts of central/northern Illinois. A strong cold front will bring record warmth to the central and eastern parts of the Nation this week.   • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM MDT Wednesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 5 inches. Highest accumulations expected near Meeteetse and Sunshine Reservoir where 6 to 10 inches could fall. North wind 15 to 30 mph.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 39 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.

Further east, strong southerly winds will usher in record warmth for most of the central and eastern United States.   • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 6 inches. Highest accumulations expected south of Cody, near Meeteetse, with totals up to 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
