Summary:
Flash, urban, and small stream flooding impacts are possible from the Deep South into the southern Appalachian mountains through Saturday. Periods of heavy rain and high elevation snow is expected across the Pacific Northwest through the weekend. Heavy snow and some mixed precipitation is possible through tonight across the Northeast, with more periods of snow this weekend across the region. Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

New York
Flood Warning remains in effect until 1:15 PM EST this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Road closures have been reported in the towns of Tonawanda, Amherst, and West Seneca this morning. This includes underpasses and poor drainage areas. Ice jams on smaller tributaries could aggravate swollen rivers. 

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Freezing rain and snow. Ice accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch and total snow accumulations of a dusting to 2 inches.
  • Impacts: Expect hazardous travel conditions for today`s morning and evening commutes, especially outside of the immediate Champlain valley. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 AM EST Saturday morning

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt, and also ice jams will continue to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in minor flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. 

North Carolina
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM EST today

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including roadways, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible. A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible.

South Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST today

  • Visibility one half mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

California
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM PST this morning

  • Visibilities in dense fog ranging from 800 feet to as low as 200 feet.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM PST Saturday morning

  • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Washington
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM PST Saturday morning

  • Wintery mix of precipitation. Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to two inches with areas of freezing rain up to a tenth of an inch.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Across east Texas and the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys, periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall will bring the potential for additional isolated flooding impacts through Friday and minor to moderate river flooding is forecast. For the Western US, behind a cold front widespread low elevation rain and mountain snow is expected through Thursday. Texas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 12 PM CST today

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and upstream runoff continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. 

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST today

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Isolated areas may be at or below freezing, and light icing can occur, especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges.

  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. Extend the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

  • Heavy snow expected above 7000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM MST Wednesday morning

  • Periods of snow will continue for the next 24 hours. Snow could be locally heavy later this morning and again this evening, slowly tapering off early Wednesday morning. Heavier showers may produce an inch two of new snow in a short time frame, but may also melt off between showers.

Summary:
An influx of moisture across the south will increase heavy to excessive rainfall chances for the Western and Central Gulf Coast today though early next week. Also, freezing rain and sleet with ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch is expected for areas further north where an arctic air mass remains. Meanwhile, heavy rain, ice and mountain snow continues to impact parts of the west coast. Missouri
Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 3 PM CST this afternoon

  • Significant icing. Additional ice accumulations between two tenths and one quarter of an inch.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute.

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Tuesday morning

  • Heavy snow expected above 7000 feet. For the eastern Sierra slopes, new snow accumulations around 8 inches at the resort level and a foot at the crest, with locally higher amounts in heavier showers. For the Spring Mountains and Sheep Range, new snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches between 7000 and 8000 feet and over a foot above 8000 feet. 
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Heavy wet snow will add weight to sensitive structures and rooftops.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM PST Tuesday afternoon

  • Snow with additional accumulations of 8 to 14 inches above 7000 feet, and 3 to 8 inches between 6500 and 7000 feet. Below 6500 feet, accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph along Sierra ridges in the morning.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult at times. The hazardous conditions could impact daily commutes through this evening.

A Pacific system continues to spread heavy mountain snows across the Cascades and into the Northern/Central Rockies and freezing rain and significant ice accumulation in portions of the Cascades and Lower Columbia Basin resulting in dangerous travel. Heavy lake-effect snow will continue downwind of the Great Lakes. Another frigid Arctic airmass is expected late this week. Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches. Winds gusting 45 to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of a coating to an inch. Winds gusting 35 to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning 

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Areas of blowing and drifting snow.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers. In addition, areas of blowing snow could lead to reduced visibility and slick roads.

Illinois
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM CST Friday afternoon

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated totals up to 4 inches possible. 
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. While snow will taper off and end late tonight, areas of blowing snow and drifting snow late tonight and Friday morning will continue to result in hazardous conditions. Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility in open areas, and drifting snow will keep exposed roadways snow covered in open areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute, particularly in open and outlying areas.

  • Flooding caused by an ice jam continues. 
  • Impacts: Flooding of roads and streets will continue. Yards and other low-lying areas along the river will remain inundated by water and ice.

  • Lake effect snow. Storm total accumulation of 2 to 6 inches, mainly for areas north of Route 28.

Bands of heavy lake-effect snow continue for the Great Lakes, especially off Lake's Erie and Ontario with several feet of snow expected. Temperatures slowly moderate through Thursday for the Plains, another Arctic blast expected late this week. Oregon
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST this afternoon

  • Mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations of less than one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. 
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST this afternoon

  • Icing continues. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches and ice accumulations of up to one quarter of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will result in blowing and drifting snow, with near white-out conditions at times, especially this afternoon and evening. 
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Meanwhile, snow will accumulate across the eastern Great Lakes and Northeast corridors through today. More lake effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes are expected through mid-week. Isolated severe thunderstorms possible for central Florida today. A strong storm will approach the Northwest today. Oregon

  • Impacts: Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel will be difficult.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM PST this evening

  • A wintry mix of precipitation is expected with periods of snow and freezing rain or sleet. Total snow accumulations of around one inch. Ice accumulations from a light glaze to a few hundredths of an inch. Winds gusting 25 to 35 mph over the mountains. 
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Wednesday morning

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM PST Wednesday morning

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected for the southern portion of the Grande Ronde Valley near Ladd and Pyles Canyons.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM MST Wednesday morning 

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. Areas of blowing and drifting snow with near-blizzard conditions possible at times. 
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles.

New York 
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST this evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 feet in the most persistent lake snows, with the greatest amounts expected across central and northern Erie County. Lake band centered on Ski Country Tuesday afternoon, will slowly shift north through southern Erie and Wyoming counties Tuesday night reaching the Buffalo Metro area by early Wednesday morning, where it will remain through the first half of Wednesday night. Lake band will then shift back south of Buffalo later Wednesday night into Thursday morning, before shifting back north across the Buffalo Metro area Thursday afternoon and weakening. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph, mainly Wednesday afternoon and evening. 
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

California
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST this afternoon
