Summary:
A strong cold front travels across the Plains Friday, Great Lakes to Gulf Coast Saturday, then arrives at the East Coast on Sunday with areas of showers and storms expected. Cold high pressure in the wake of the front will bring areas of gusty winds and snow to the Rockies and Northern Plains Friday into Saturday. Severe thunderstorms will be possible late Saturday from east Texas into the South. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-5, I-90, I-15, I-86, I-84, I-70, I-25, I-40, I-17, I-10, I-94, I-29, I-35


Utah
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 18 inches, locally up to 2 feet in the Upper Cottonwoods.
  • Impacts: Winter driving conditions are expected on all mountain routes including the Cottonwood Canyons, Logan Summit and Parleys Summit on Interstate 80. Blowing and drifting snow may reduce visibilities to near 0 at times on US-89 on Logan Summit.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Snow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches.
  • Impacts: Winter driving conditions can be expected including during the Friday morning and evening commutes.

California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 3 PM PST this evening

  • Northeast winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds may blow down large objects such as trees and power lines. Power outages are likely. Travel will be difficult, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 AM PST Saturday morning

  • Northeast winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Areas of north to northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Isolated gusts to 60 mph near Montecito Hills this evening.

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.

Summary:
A storm system will shift into the Rockies and High Plains into Friday, bringing strong winds and snow to mountainous terrain. Record high temperatures may occur across the Great Plains and Upper Midwest today. This weekend, Pacific moisture will bring heavy rain and high elevation snow to the Pacific Northwest, and severe thunderstorms will impact the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley. Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Friday evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches in the Gros Ventre mountains and Teton Pass. Total snow accumulations of 20 to 30 inches in the Teton Mountains. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph Thursday afternoon. 
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST Friday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph Thursday afternoon.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: The high winds may blow down large trees and damage roofs, small outbuildings, and signs. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying debris.

Oklahoma
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Atmospheric river of heavy precipitation, strong winds and high surf continues for the Northwest portion of the country. Meanwhile, warming temperatures are expected for the center of the nation where several record highs are in the forecast. Looking ahead into the weekend, a strong cold front is expected to sweep through the eastern two-thirds of the country with heavy rain and thunderstorms. Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST Thursday evening

  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Washington
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM PST Thursday morning

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding from rain will inundate many roads including US Highway 12.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM PST this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff will result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM PST this afternoon

  • Visibility as low as a quarter mile or less in dense fog.

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.

California
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST Thursday afternoon

  • Snow and blowing snow expected above 3500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches for eastern Siskiyou County and 12 to 14 inches across the high terrain of western Siskiyou County. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • Flash flooding and debris flows caused by excessive rainfall are possible.
  • Impacts: Heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding of low-lying areas, and urbanized street flooding. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM PST this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Summary:
A clipper type system will track across the Ohio Valley, central Appalachians and mid-Atlantic regions today. Rain and some accumulating snow across the higher elevations of the central Appalachians can be expected. The Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies continue with heavy precipitation and flooding coinciding with strong winds that will make traveling difficult. Impacted Lanes: I-580, I-5, I-82, I-90, I-84, I-69, I-75, I-94, I-196, I-96, I-57, I-290, I-70 I-71, I-77, I-79, I-64


Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9 PM MST this evening

  • Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph, with gusts ranging from 65 to 75 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM MST Wednesday morning

  • Southwest wind gusts up to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult along Interstate 90 from Livingston to Big Timber and roads along the Beartooth Foothills. 

Washington
Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 PM PST Friday evening

  • Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Heavy rain will cause moderate flooding, with deep and quick flood waters inundating some residential areas, and many roads. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 PM PST Thursday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roads, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Water may seep into basements, field flooding, and ponding of water over roads and in urban areas with poor drainage will be possible. Steep terrain will also see an increased risk for rock slides. 

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility as low as a quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 AM PST Thursday morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water is expected later tonight and Wednesday. Areas most likely to see such flooding will be the coast, coast mountains, and throughout the I-5 corridor. 

North Carolina
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this evening

  • Light snow accumulations expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches with the highest elevations seeing isolated higher totals. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. 
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

  • Snow. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches.

Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • Heavy mountain snow and blowing snow possible. Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches expected through this afternoon. Total snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 feet, with a few isolated maximum amounts of 3 to 5 feet possible in the Sierra Madres. 
  • Impacts: Mountain travel could become extremely dangerous or impossible due to icy, snow packed roads and near zero visibilities in falling and blowing snow.

New Mexico

  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced. Extend the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. This includes along portions of I-40 and U.S. 550. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations between 1 and 2 inches.

Scattered thunderstorms, some severe, will be possible Thursday mainly over southeast Texas. A conditional risk for a few tornadoes will be possible. A series of cold fronts will start to impact areas along and west of the Cascades Thursday with rain for the valleys and snow at many mountain passes. Meanwhile, colder air is sliding southward toward the Southeast portions of the country where freeze warnings are in effect. Air stagnation concerns linger for the interior Pacific Northwest. A low-pressure area developing near Hawaii may bring heavy rainfall and flooding through mid-week. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-80, I-77, I-71, I-271, I-79, I-86, I-81, I-25, I-84, I-5


Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 2 PM MST this afternoon

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. Areas of blowing snow reducing visibility to under a mile for areas with recent snowpack.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers. Slick roads and reduced visibility possible for those areas with a fresh snowpack.

Ohio
Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 AM EST Wednesday morning

  • Heavy lake effect snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches, especially in the higher elevations away from Lake Erie. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact this morning`s commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Lake effect snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of up to 4 inches in northern portions of the counties with lighter amounts farther south. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact this morning`s commute.

South Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected along shorelines and tidal waterways
  • Impacts: This could result in some roads becoming impassable.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility less than one quarter of a mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST this evening

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph for Ladd and Pyles Canyons.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Summary:
Widespread heavy rains are likely in the Eastern U.S. A wintry mix is possible across New England and the Interior Northeast with the heaviest accumulations possible in New Hampshire into northern Maine. Moderate to heavy snow is expected to impact the northern Rockies Wednesday night through Thanksgiving. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-15, I-86, I-84, I-80, I-25, I-81, I-87, I-95, I-93, I-91


Wyoming
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST Friday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially in southwest Wyoming.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • West winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Virginia 
Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 2 PM EST this afternoon

  • One to two feet of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas will result in an elevated threat of property damage to homes and businesses near the waterfront and shoreline. Water will be 1 to 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads and threaten homes and businesses. Flooding will extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road closures and flooding of vehicles.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in areas of dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

New York
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST this afternoon

  • Mixed wintry precipitation expected to continue for portions of the North Country with additional accumulations of snow or ice being generally less than 1 inch or a few hundredths respectively. Untreated road surfaces will continue to be icy this morning even where snow and freezing rain have transitioned to rain. Winds gusting as high as 25 mph. 
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery and icy road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute today in many areas.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
