Wednesday outlook, more record high temperatures are expected across the Northwestern states, Texas and Florida. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms are possible ahead of a frontal boundary across portions of the Upper Midwest. Monsoonal moisture will aid with the development of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms; Isolated flash flooding is possible, especially in vulnerable areas. Impacted Lanes: I-81, I-87, I-91, I-84, I-89


New York
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:15 AM EDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Oregon
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PDT this morning

  • Areas of dense fog. Visibility 1 to 2 miles, but areas of below one quarter of a mile at times in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

North Dakota
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • Northwest winds around 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

New Mexico
Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM MDT this evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Summary:
More record high temperatures are forecast today across the Deep South, Southeast and into the Northwest portions of the country. Showers and thunderstorms, some severe with heavy rainfall, across the east coast states today into tonight. Monsoonal moisture and heavy rainfall expands from the Four Corners through the Intermountain West this week. For Hawaii, trade winds increase the next few days. Impacted Lanes: I-59, I-65, I-96, I-75, I-69, I-91, I-93, I-495, I-87


Tennessee 
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11:15 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:30 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

South Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility under 1/2 mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Massachusetts
Flood Watch remains in effect until 12 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected toward daybreak Tuesday into Tuesday morning. A quick 1-2 inches of rain with localized 3 inch amounts are possible in a 2-4 hour period. This may impact the Tuesday morning commute and result in street flooding...especially in the urban centers.

Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding are possible across portions of the Ohio Valley extending to the Mid-Atlantic States on Monday.   • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Missouri
Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
  • Impacts: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Tennessee
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

New Mexico
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT this morning

  • East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. 
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

The prolonged dangerous heat wave continues across the South and Southeast. The heat will expand into the West and Northwest later this weekend and continue into most of next week. Meanwhile, a couple of strong systems will track across the Plains, Great Lakes and Northeast where the threat of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will exist today and into the weekend.   • Visibilities one quarter to one half mile in dense fog.

New Mexico

  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding below burn scars and within rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Alabama
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM CDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

Georgia
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Arizona 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PDT this morning

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. This includes Interstate 8 near the San Diego County border.

Severe storms with damaging winds and large to very large hail will be possible in the central Plains. Severe storms are possible along a lingering boundary in the Southeast.   • Shoreline inundation is expected along portions of the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road, and near the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Nebraska
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter to one half mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
     

North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington. Water may be over other roads as well. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Wisconsin 
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM PDT Friday morning

  • Northwest to north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected through mid morning. There may be a lull in the winds for a few hours, then northwest to north winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph are expected this afternoon through late tonight. Isolated gusts to 60 mph are possible this evening.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Flash flooding concerns today aided by tropical moisture and a stationary frontal boundary will focus showers and thunderstorms over parts of Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. To the south of this rainfall, dangerous to record breaking heat will expand across the South and Southwest. The heat, gusty winds and low humidity levels could result in rapid spread of wildfires across the Southern Plains. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-29, I-35, I-70, I-44, I-72, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-69

Delaware
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM EDT Thursday morning

  • Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible.

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 AM PDT Thursday morning

  • North winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
